Cliffs of Moher & The Burren

Add the Cliffs of Moher (also known as the Cliffs of Insanity for those fans of The Princess Bride out there) to the list of dramatic landscapes we’ve seen in Europe. Holy moly is it a cool place. Too bad there we didn't spot any puffins...

King John's Castle in Limerick...

Lunch break in Doolin...
Our tour van also took us to see The Burren, which may appear to be quiet barren but has an interesting geological history and is rich with a surprising variety of flora.

Dublin is our last quick stop before flying back to the States from London. Sigh...
And that's all we have to say about that!

Cork & Kinsale

As encouraged by several Irish folk and other travels throughout our Eurotrip, we opted to spend the bulk of our limited time in Ireland in County Cork and surroundings. They assured us that the area feels more like the Ireland of the tourism commercials than Dublin does. Although bummed that we now only have an afternoon in Dublin, we’re glad we followed their suggestions.

Kinsale is a picturesque little harbor town and is known as both the oldest of Irish towns and the gourmet capital of Ireland. We strolled the town during the annual Regatta Festival…

During our excursion to Blarney Castle, we enjoyed meeting Leonardo, Marika, Elena, and Sebastian, a group of students living in Dublin. We all made a group dinner and Marika and Elena even shared some Italian super secrets of pasta.

Beatletown, Better Known as Liverpool

Liverpool was the European Culture Capital of 2008, but the city really is all about the Beatles.

We took the Magical Mystery Tour...

Ringo's 3rd childhood home is the bright white house half way down on the right. Heck yeah, we're putting him first cuz he's always mentioned last! According to the tour guide, John & Paul wanted Ringo in the band because he was fancied by the ladies. Poor Pete Best was just too quiet a guy - a better drummer than Ringo, but Ringo was a better Beatle.

20 Forthlin Road was Paul's last official home in Liverpool. It's now a museum and some dude is paid to live there and to keep an eye on things. Nice. Paul still maintains a home on the river and visits Liverpool frequently. He was in town just last week to hand out diplomas at the local grad week.

John's Aunt Mimi's house, where he grew up.
George was born in the living room of this small house...

The city of Liverpool has to replace the Penny Lane signs several times a week due to magical mystery disappearances at the hands of fans. Thieves snatched the Strawberry Field gate in 2000 and soon discovered that they couldn't get far with it due to the international attention that the theft received. They ditched it nearby and the gates were then welded into place.

Off to Cork, Ireland!
